The 10 steps Luthier walks every technician through for this equipment type. Severity signals show what to flag.

baseline v2
  1. Step 01 · Overall Unit

Document overall view of the Vocsidizer unit

Establishes baseline condition of the unit exterior and orients all subsequent inspection imagery.

Focus: Capture a full exterior view showing the chamber, stack, cabinets, and gas train; note any visible corrosion, damage, or leaks.
    Severity signals (2)
    • no visible abnormality → NONE
    • obvious external damage or leakage → MEDIUM
  2. Step 02 · Media Bed / Cold Face

Inspect media bed, cold face, and cold face support (A and B sides)

Media beds and cold faces are the core heat-recovery element; fouling, slumping, or damage degrades destruction efficiency.

Focus: On both A and B sides, look for media slumping, fouling, cracked or missing cold face blocks, and intact cold face supports; also check chamber insulation.
    Severity signals (3)
    • clean, uniform media with no abnormality → NONE
    • not inspected per caption → LOW
    • visible slumping, cracking, or fouling → MEDIUM/HIGH
  3. Step 03 · Media Support Screens

Inspect and document media support screens after cleaning

Screens retain the media bed and must be clean and intact for proper flow distribution.

Focus: Confirm screens are cleaned, free of debris, and show no tears, deformation, or corrosion on A and B sides.
    Severity signals (2)
    • screen clean and intact → NONE
    • torn or deformed screen → MEDIUM
  4. Step 04 · Burner Stone / Nozzle

Inspect burner stone, burner nozzle, and flame during heat-up

Burner condition affects ignition reliability, flame quality, and chamber temperature control.

Focus: Look at burner stone for cracking or spalling, nozzle for fouling or damage, and flame for stable shape and color during heat-up.
    Severity signals (2)
    • nozzle/stone intact, no fouling → NONE
    • cracked stone or fouled nozzle → MEDIUM
  5. Step 05 · Poppet / Switch Valves 1071 / 1072

Inspect inlet and outlet poppet/switch valves (A/B, 1071/1072)

Poppet and switch valves direct process flow between chambers; seat and seal integrity are critical for destruction efficiency.

Focus: Inspect inlet A/B and outlet A/B seats, seal plate bowtie, valve spindle, drive plate/cylinder, and drive gear; note inlet baffle, valve face, and main valve seal ring condition.
    Severity signals (2)
    • no abnormality described → NONE
    • worn or damaged seal ring/baffle → MEDIUM
  6. Step 06 · Valve Gaps (A1–A23 / B1–B23)

Measure and record valve gaps across all A and B positions

Valve gap measurements verify that switch/poppet valves seal properly; out-of-tolerance gaps cause bypass leakage and reduced DRE.

Focus: Record gap at each position A1–A23 and B1–B23; flag any readings at or near zero clearance or significantly uneven across positions.
    Severity signals (3)
    • all gaps within tolerance → NONE
    • several values at or near zero clearance → MEDIUM
    • widespread out-of-tolerance gaps → HIGH
  7. Step 07 · Poppet Shafts and Bearings

Inspect poppet shafts and bearings on A and B sides (1071/1072)

Shaft straightness and bearing wear drive valve sealing performance and mechanical reliability.

Focus: Check shafts for bending, scoring, or corrosion; inspect bearings for wear, play, or contamination.
    Severity signals (2)
    • no abnormality → NONE
    • visible wear or shaft deflection → MEDIUM
  8. Step 08 · Exhaust Fan / Bearings / Manifold

Inspect exhaust fan wheel, bearings, coupling, and exhaust end of manifold

The exhaust fan drives process flow; bearing, coupling, or wheel issues cause vibration, noise, and flow loss.

Focus: Look at fan wheel for buildup or damage, bearings for grease condition and wear, coupling alignment, and manifold for corrosion or leaks.
    Severity signals (2)
    • components in good condition → NONE
    • bearing noise or fan damage → MEDIUM
  9. Step 09 · External Process & Recirculation Valves / Dampers

Externally inspect process, recirculation, stack valves, and fresh air/purge damper

External valves and dampers control process routing; leaks or actuator faults disrupt operation.

Focus: Check FV-RST01060/61/67/73/74/160/161, PCV-RST01076, and fresh air/purge damper for leaks, corrosion, missing fasteners, and actuator condition.
    Severity signals (2)
    • no leaks or damage → NONE
    • leak, corrosion, or actuator fault → MEDIUM
  10. Step 10 · Poppet Cabinet / Gas Train / Control Cabinet

Inspect poppet cabinet, pressure devices, gas train, and control cabinet

Cabinets and gas train house safety and control devices; pneumatic, electrical, or gas leaks compromise safe operation.

Focus: Check gas train for leaks/corrosion, pneumatic lines for damage, pressure switches and gauges for proper readings, and cabinets for damaged components or loose connections.
    Severity signals (2)
    • routine documentation, no findings → NONE
    • leak or electrical fault → MEDIUM/HIGH
